Who am I?
Hard to tell who I am, even for me, sometimes.
I believe I am a learner.
I believe that we are here for a purpose and if we refuse our life lessons
we defeat our purpose.
So, I try to learn.
I am very fascinated by this thing called experience.
I believe that we have them so that our brains can better help us navigate
as
we become more proficient in becoming individuals.
Think about it:
The first time we cross the street what are we told?
The red light means stop -The green light means go.
Look both ways.
Be careful.
From that moment on, every single time we go to cross the street, our
brain reaches for previous experiences
and comes across that one and then
advises us on what to do.
That happens with every experience we encounter, for the rest of our
lives.
I call these experiences "life lessons"
How we apply our life lessons will decide for us how we approach every
single experience,
new and old, for the rest of our lives.
If we sense fear when we come to that first curb we will be tempted to let fear
guide us as
we approach it the next time.
If we sense caution then we will approach it with caution the next time.
and if we sense excitement than could be with excitement that we approach that
curb.
This tells me that the state of mind of our teachers is as important as
the experience itself.
For example my mother had other children to care for in very quick
succession to my birth...
so it was with relief and excitement that she stepped up to that first
curb with me and sent me on my way.
and so excitement is, generally, the attitude I take with me when I step
up to most of the 'curbs' that I come to.
Sensing her confidence left me with a sense of independence that has helped me in many of my endeavors.
I also have some areas in my life where I am hesitant because of the way some
particular lesson was taught to me.
What I have also learned is that our teachers are human,
led by their own experiences, ambitions, and needs.
And that it is important to take that into consideration when going over
my life's lessons.
I have the ability to change my attitude and approach the things that are
troublesome to me.
So, I do attempt to do that.
I am consciously aware of my experiences most of the time.
I make an effort to look into my head, and my heart,
and search for past experiences to help me decide what to do in this
particular experience.
I also work to not let any past experience close any doors for me.
I will look at what my brain tells me and say but... but...
this is different, or he or she is different, or I am different..
I wouldn't be fair to myself, nor to others, if I didn't do that.
I then let myself in for what could be an enjoyable
experience.
So, who am I?
I don't know yet,
I take the road less traveled, that's for sure...
What I DO know is that I like me, I like who I am turning out to be
I am kind
I am caring
I am strong
As I experience my life lessons, I am learning to give myself the freedom
of choice,
and in doing so my spirit continues to soar...
I may just turn out to be a better person than even I imagined,
:)
We have to live with ourselves longer than any other person we know..
so try to make choices that you can live with for the rest of your life.
