Even tho we have no desire to see each other hurt,
we do not have the right to make each another's choices.

We don't have to support the choices of the other,
We don't need to understand to be a good friend;
We don't even have to accept their choices to be one,
All we need to remember is that our friends are not us...
We cannot insist they make choices based on our lives,
our loves and losses, and our experiences.

We cannot dictate how the needs in another's heart are met.
All we need to do is show our love by respecting their right to make their own choices.

If we listen with an open heart the things people say can have great impact on our hearts, minds and souls,
my good friend Joyce said this to me:

and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

that our background and circumstances
may have influenced who we are,
but we are responsible for who we become.
